OZ Rock Band Rocks United Nations Headquarters
Well from our last post, it is true… The United Nations really does work.
Rudely Interrupted played at United Nations Headquarters in New York today. You can see the Melbourne band rocking it out by clicking here. This was to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was organized by the Permanent Missions of Australia and Hungary. This was also in in cooperation with the secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, DESA.
Tim Out New York says that Rudely Interrupted, “They stand apart from their peers - not because of the intellectual disabilities, but because their music is some of the most energetic and genuine to emerge from the Australian rock ‘n’ roll underground in recent times. Their songs life the band above the realm of novelty and give them a cultural cache in the image obsessed world of indie rock.”
When we received the press release on this event, we did not realize the disabilities of Rudely Interrupted. However, it warmed our hearts to see them play in New York.
After all, there are days when we all have our handicaps and disabilities.
